Mother's Day Story

Mother's Day Story

Josie, a loving mother, sister, wife, and daughter from Minnesota has been a breast cancer survivor for about 4 years. When Josie received her diagnosis, she turned to her family for support, because her mother passed away due to the same illness in 1993. She faced going through numerous treatments, and medications. With the support of her family, and an unbreakable spirit, she was able to push the disease into remission. To honor her courage in the battle with Breast Cancer, her entire extended family walks the Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure every Mother’s Day with her.

This year, her son Blake wanted to something extra special to honor her courage, as well as the memory of his grandma who succumbed to Breast Cancer. He turned to WSI Sports to have custom pink shirts made for their entire team.

He worked with his cousins to develop a logo that would commemorate both Josie’s bravery and their late Grandma Harriet in their walk this Mother’s Day. They decided to use their team name, “Saving Josie’s Jewels” along with some sparkling jewels and breast cancer ribbon. To top it off, they added a cardinal, because their Grandma Harriet always loved cardinals, “Sometimes when a cardinal stops at our birdfeeder, we know grandma is nearby checking up on all of us,” noted Blake.

With the help of WSI’s design team, the family was able to create a shirt that will unite them this Mother’s Day, and display their love and passion for their loved ones who have suffered from the disease.

Having been through the process of making custom gear with other companies, Josie’s family was very impressed with the quality and willingness to involve them in the design process. “WSI’s full sublimation allowed us to have as much freedom we wanted in designing our logo, and it turned out awesome!” said Blake after seeing the shirts.  Also, as an additional surprise to Josie, we are posting this blog about her brave story! “I love you mom! I’m so proud and lucky to have such a strong, brave, and loving woman in my life!” –Blake
